GRAMMAR
Gramática de A Fala
This grammar is based on respect for the diversity of A Fala and it documents the three varieties without imposing one over the others. Since it is not a unified system, the variety in which certain forms are used is always explicitly indicated. Its methodology is based on primary data, interviews, texts, and personal consultations with speakers. The community of speakers has contributed decisively to the development and verification of this description, and therefore all the people who have collaborated deserve sincere thanks.
- It is based on a database of 337,000 words.
- The description always carefully indicates which variety it refers to.
- It offers 600 textual examples, 200 in each of the three varieties.
- It contains conjugation models of regular and irregular verbs.
- It is written in three versions: Lagarteiru, Mañegu and Valverdeñu, with appropriate linguistic metalanguage.
- Comparisons with other languages are impartial and do not support any idea about the “origin” of A Fala
