COMMUNITY DRIVEN LANGUAGE
DOCUMENTATION AND DESCRIPTION

The objective of this project is to carry out a complex documentation and description of A Fala, which is a minority language spoken in Extremadura, Spain. The description is based on primary data and the same data will serve for the language documentation. The research is community based and the community members are interested in the project results as they contribute to the revitalization of their mother-tongue.

The project has been carried out in cooperation with the Interdisciplinary Centre for Social and Language Documentation (CIDLeS), based in Minde, Portugal. This linguistic centre is a non-profit institution supporting language documentation of endangered European languages with a variety of activities including technology development, training and conference organization.
